Help organize a Reconciliation Service at your parish.
Accompany/drive a friend or family member to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Restorative justice efforts work to heal and support both formerly incarcerated persons and victims of crime. Victims of crime and communities impacted by violence need healing and support to bring about forgiveness and reconciliation.
Go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Be quick to forgive and slow to anger.
Intentionally write down 4 people you will forgive/ask for forgiveness. Follow through with one each week. "Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother's eye" (Mt 7:5).
Pray for those who have wronged you and pray for the courage to forgive.
Ask forgiveness from others.
Let go of grudges; go out of your way to be positive with someone you are having a difficult time with.
Setting a good example is a way of admonition.
REFLECT AND FOLLOW-UP: The work of mercy isn't finished when the activity ends. Spend time in prayer, reflecting on where you saw and experienced the love and mercy of Christ. If you did an activity with a group, follow-up with others in that group and share insights or observations. This is a chance to grow in faith - and mercy! - together.
